So the Tampa Bay call that cost us a game (the NFL gave the Bengals a letter of apology, according to my prime source Pat) would have put us at 9-7, and other questionable calls throughout the year put us on the outside looking in. And the missed field goal that looks like Satan himself blew wide right against the Steelers, plus the botched PAT in Denver, really makes you think who has it out for us. But we had three win-and-in games to end the season. It seemed like every tiebreaker went to us, and we have more talent than the Chiefs, Jets and Ravens, but we fell short after another disappointing season. Personally, I think our third down play killed us in many games we should have won (on defense and offense... ahh, mostly defense.) I'd like to hear some opinions on this season's .500 finish, what you look forward to in the 07 campaign, and some general ranting about how a .500 AFC team could beat a 14-2 NFC team any day of the week.

You can throw in stats, intelligent analysis, and anything else you want, but it all comes down to this, karma. If you love the Bengals, the Reds, or Kentucky Football, then you know what I'm talking about. Very seldom will one of these three teams get a really big W. They will play well (okay, maybe not the Reds), maybe even dominate the opponent, but at the end of the game they will blow it.
The Bengals had to win 1 out of 3! The analysts were saying that this could have been the year of the Bengal. No dice! The planets aligned, El Nino settled in over the Ohio river, and the Bengals blew it.
It almost makes you want to be like that jerk, who everybody knows, and start rooting for whoever wins the Super Bowl or maybe "America's Team." You may end up like some of those guys I talked to over the last year. You know who I'm talking about, Mr. "I've always been a Steelers Fan." But we Bengals fans are better men than that. We will take our lumps and get on with it. Next year might just be the year when the Bengals break out of their jail cells and into the Super Bowl. I just wouldn't hold your breath.

I remember when Richie Braham got hurt at the beginning of the season and everyone was talking about Pollack instead. Pollack is (was) an important part of our team, but Braham was, along with Jeff Saturday, the best center in the league. People don't realize how much he did, but now he's retired and we're worse for it. The reason why the offense wasn't nearly as "explosive" as last year, while allowing consideration to Carson's knee, can be traced back to the snap. We're gonna miss that guy...
